The I Knew You Were Trouble singer has surrounded herself by a number of high-profile girlfriends - including Lorde, Lena Dunham and Selena Gomez - and insisted she would much rather focus on female friendship than romance.
She told The Guardian newspaper: "It just doesn't seem like a possibility in the near future. It doesn't ever work. What works is having incredible girlfriends who I can trust and tell everything."
The star has recently announced her new single 1989, which - rather than being about the sad side of love - is about the independence that comes from being single a single woman, living ''on your own terms'' and proving you can ''do it'' on your own without the need for a man or relationship.
Taylor Swift added: "It's the phase after that jilted, sad, pining, when you go out into the world and make changes in your life on your own terms, make friends on your own terms, without literally saying 'C'mon girls, we can do it on our own.' "
