17 ridiculous excuses Nigerian men give women for breaking up and what they really mean
You’re in a relationship and you’re thinking you’ve finally found the one until one day he comes up with an excuse to break up with you. You never saw it coming and want to know why. Then he gives you one lame excuse, probably because he’s trying to not to make you feel worse than you already do.
Breaking up with someone is definitely not the easiest thing in the world and that may be the reason why people come up with all sorts of unbelievable excuses.
Some Nigerian men will just be straight forward, tell you the way it is, no white lies or beating around the bush. They don’t care whether you’re hurt or not.
Some others will resort to a white lie which they believe is the fairest way to break up with you, maybe to avoid hurting you or because they don’t have the courage to tell you the truth.
Here are some excuses Nigerian men give for breaking up with their partners.
1. I’m not ready for a serious relationship.
He just would rather be single than be with you.
2. I’m afraid of commitment.
Just tell her you’re afraid of being tied to her for life.
3. Things are going too fast, I think we need to slow down.
This is him saying things are getting way too serious and he’s not ready to be serious.
4. I can’t be with someone who doesn’t know how to cook.
It wasn’t a big deal when she was at your place every day sleeping with you.
5. It’s not you, it’s me.
This is probably the most overused and clichéd excuse in the history of dating. This is easier for me to say than telling you to your face that ‘I don’t like you’.
6. We are not compatible, I think we’re better as friends.
I still want you in my life, maybe we could be friends with benefit. I just don’t want a relationship with you.
7. You deserve someone better or you’re too good for me.
Errmm, you don’t want to sleep with me and I can’t keep wasting my time waiting for you to change your mind.
8. My mother doesn’t like you.
I really can’t come up with any reason why I’m not into you anymore. mama don like you
9. I love you but I’m not in love with you.
You are a great friend and that is it, we can’t be more than that so its better to end it now before you accuse me of deceiving you.
10. You are too demanding, I can’t keep up.
If this excuse allows me to get out of being with you, it’s cool.
11. I don’t love you anymore.
I have accomplished my objective and it’s time to move to my next victim.
12. It’s just not working for me.
Sorry darling, but he’s just not that into you and he wants to try to spare your feelings.
13. We just don’t have anything in common anymore.
You have fulfilled my sexual desires and now it’s time for you to go.
14. Our lives are going in different directions.
You’re preventing me from doing the things I want to do.
15. If you love something let it go, and if it returns it was meant to be.
When I finish ‘sampling’ other girls and it doesn’t work, I want to be able to breeze into your life again like nothing happened.
16. At this point in my life, I really need to focus on… (school, work, whatever).
I want out of this relationship because I am bored with you and I want to try something new. Truth is, if you’re important to him, he’ll find a way to fit you into his schedule.
17. He says NOTHING!
He just keeps avoiding you, stops picking your calls and when he finally picks up, he promises to back but never does. In the end, you realize that it’s over and you think of all the reasons why it died on your own.
Don’t be afraid to move on if a guy breaks up with you. Respect yourself enough to walk away. If he can’t see your worth, he’s not worthy of your time and attention. Next please!
